If it's bright white it probably means the coraline is dieing off in those spots. Check your waters calcium levels, as that is what grows coraline. Calcium and Light that is.

Doubtful that a fish can clean off the coraline.

Do you test for calcium? IMG=HO you need to maintain at least a 350 ppm calcium level for coraline growth.

Definitely test. My favorite kits are SeaChem (absolutely sharp cutoff, but $$$$), Salifert and SeaTest. Red Sea is OK, but poorly put together.

i did a calcium test and it told me to take the number of drops and multiply it by 15 well the number of drops was exactly 50 this was with a seachem kit so is this level wrong or right as too much calcium or too little calcium

Be sure and check your phosphate levels too. Whitening of coralline may also be a sign of high phosphates.

i did a calcium test and it told me to take the number of drops and multiply it by 15 well the number of drops was exactly 50 I suspect there is eather a problem with the test kit (too old ??? - check expiry date...), or you did something wrong... It is totally impossible to have such high levels of Ca in a marine aquarium.

As for the bleaching coralline, that could also be too much light (especially if all the bleaching occurs on top), too little water flow, or predation by a snail, limpet, etc.
