I just got a brain the other day and because of the angle it was sitting at the LFS, I didn't notice a bad spot on it until I got it home. From the looks of it, is it dying or will the bad spot recover? I have never had one of these before.

Try feeding it. It should recover.

yes, feed it on the regular bases. unfreeze frozen food like cyclopeze, or any other vitamin soaked meaty food, turn off the powerheads, put some food on top of each mouth (I use surringe without a niddle) and let him eat it. if the coral is very sick first few times it will take him longer to eat the food. hope i didn't miss anything in the process. some say it's best to feed few hours after the lights have been off and the coral shows feeding tenticals, but i feed mine when it looks nice and swollen, and it takes food as well. in fact, when some corals are very sick, they might not going to spread their tenticals for feeding at all.

2 hours after the lights went out, I fed him cyclopeze and some minced mysid and he ate most of it. Today he is noticeably more inflated.

His tentacles were out. I had never seen one in the dark before. I didn't know they had tentacles like they do. Definitely looks totally different in the dark with the tentacles out!

Oddly mine has never shown me it's tentacles. From talking to others it must be getting enough nutrients without searching for food because it is certainly growing, healthy, and pooping as well.
