Heres what I want to do...

The big question is what type of lions do you want? If you want two dwarfs either the Fuzzy Dwarf, Dwarf Zebra, Fu Manchu, then you can do it in a 46 gallon with lots of cover for them to hide and protein skimmer. The big problem with devoting a tank just to lions (unless you do the Volitans which is more of a open water lion as adults) is they are very secretive and hardly move. You might want to think about another small fish like a pygmy angel or something to the like. If you want to go with two Volitans, Russels, you will want to go with a 125 minimum. Radiatas and Antent.... are 75 minimum. Hope this helps. Also be prepared to feed them live ghost shrimp till they get used to frozen. NO FEEDER GOLDFISH!

To steal a page from someone's book, because FW fish have a higher fat content than do SW fish. Feeding feeder goldfish to lionfish is analogous to feeding McDonald's to a person. Over time, it is going to cause health problems.

not to mention that they OFTEN carry ****ty diseases and kill your fish...but also because they lack vital nutrients

I would recommend a fish more like a Molly for cheap feeders, as they are at least somewhat saltwater fish, but I would lean toward using a "feeding stick" and feeding the lions some marine fish fillets in that manner.

Thanks kreblak for using my page! Ya beat me to it. Actually freshwater diseases most of the time can't be transfered to saltwater due to different parasites that cause the diseases. The main reason as to why it is bad is due to Fatty Liver Disease, which is cause by too many fats and skull fragments (saltwater fish can't digest the skulls of fw fish) that the liver keeps growing and growing and eventually suffocates all other vital organs killing the fish. It is a very long slow painful death. Anyway hope this helps and good luck.
