View Full Version : What is this Peacock? Is it a male?

OK, so I bought this peacock and thought it was a male as the fins were coloring. Now I'm not so sure. I can't even remember what it was sold to me as. Something Red. Ruby Red? Red Empress? Who knows...
Any idea what it is? Is it a fem? It's only an inch long right now...

You'll have to wait until it grows out a bit, fry/juvies are nearly impossible to sort out.

its a peacock not red empress.
wait till it grows to tell sex and species

IMO it is a female, it has a solid colored anal fin with no egg spots or hints of them and it is has a rounded shape, the top fin has the lighter whitish blue outline, a characteristic of females. and has a female rounded shape as well. However it is still young and is still a little early to tell. but i am leaning towards female.
