And I'll even give you a link to check out!!
www.aquariumgarden.com

I just ordered, among other things, 25 C. Balansae from this site for $.99 a plant. I've been looking for a good price for a while on these and a few other plants and this seems to be the best option for the money.
They are special ordering a large quantity of plants at a dirt cheap price. I was also very impressed with the time they gave me answering all my questions, and the guarantee on the plants.
Check out the site. I believe there's only a short period of time to order.
And no, I have no connection with this outfit......just passing along what I consider a good deal.

I've often thought about ordering from AG. Their shipping is reasonable and the plants are cheap. Let us know what you think of the plants you receive (size & healthwise).

lol I feel your pain.

I live near Toronto and it's too expensive to order form the US and most places in Canada suck. I tried Ottawa Aquatics once but never really heard anything.

If you are ever planning a trip to Calgary, maybe you could call the BigAl's there and they might be able to order some Tropica plants for you.

My dad lives in Edmonton and the plants he gets are assorted crap. That's why I need to help him ID them when I go out there next week. :)

I would be interested in what the size is for 99 cents.

This is from their WEB site

"We ship young plants! This means that even if at first they may seem small in size they will be able to survive the shipping and adapt to your aquarium environment better than the older ones. Give them a chance - they will grow to be gorgeous! "

"Please allow 10-14 days for delivery - here is why. We collect our customers' orders during a week and then once a week we request all these plants from our nursery. We receive shipment of plants, package them for the retail, and mail them to our customers. "

Hmmm, I have always found the opposite to be true of rooted plants... the larger they are and the more root developed, the more resistant the plant is to abuse of any kind.

This sounds like the business plan behind Aquariumplant.com too. I have used them and it appears that they keep little or no stock and import once a week from somebody. Maybe it is the same importer!? In any case, if you are patient and do not expect much proactive communication about your order, the plants can be fine.

BTW Len, maybe the Balansae sale is over already; the price I see for it is $1.99 not $0.99. Sounds like you got a good deal.

Yes, I just checked the site and don't see the link or any info on the special order. They said that it would be over during the first week of Aug. I just didn't know when.
BTW, they do order the stock from out of the country and also state that it IS smaller than their usual stock, but for the money I thought it was a very good deal. And they don't charge my account until I've received it and am happy with it. Don't know how I can go wrong. We'll see.......

Well I can tell you we all pretty much do that. Very few of the online plant dealers grow their own plants in volume. And we all pretty much get our plants from the same sources.

My plants come in every week. I try to order enough to at least cover the orders for a week with some to spare. I have enough space to keep those that sell slowly for a much longer period of time than that and actually grow larger during that time. Size and availability always changes according to what the nurseries have available, whether from Florida or Asia. And although the size changes, their cost does not.

I stopped getting small C. balansae about a month ago because my supplier has had a steady supply of very large and well developed balansae. The difference in price between the small and large balansae is so little, I figured why sell the small. Leaves up to 15" long and 2" wide. Thats the only size I sell.
