View Full Version : Marineland C Series Leak Issues?

It seems that among the complaints found in reviews of these filters there is an alarming amount of leak problems. (Now by alarming I don't mean a lot - maybe one or two reports per twenty or so reviews I have seen.) But it's not like one hears about Eheim or Rena springing a leak very often at all. It's rare to read of someone having that issue on those filters. And since the Marinelands are such new products and there aren't many reviews just yet, don't you think that is a bit much for there to be a noticeable amount of leak incidents so soon?

It's too bad as I was really set on one of these and now I'm concerned and wary of purchasing one of them. Any thoughts or experiences to share?

my review is posted on c-f reviews

Basically mine seemed awesome, but it started dumping massive water out of the lid. the o-ring was good, cause it was making an air tight seal, but in the lid there were holes or something and water was running out all 4 sides of the lid, down the filter, and into my stand.

I didn't like the two step cutoff for the hoses either...

Since I didn't really want to mess with getting it fixed, and I had a xp 3 on diff tank in another house, and I decided to just get another xp 3.

Luckily it happened just before the xp 3 went up from 89.99 @ bigals.

There are good reviews of it, and I don't think it was a horrible filter, I really liked a lot of the features, but the thought of all that water damage turned me off of it big time.

Wow it really does seem like there is a true and real issue with these units. I wonder if Marineland will address this and get the stuff up to par.

I'm still ticked off at Marineland for having NEVER put out a list of C-Series filter winners (they ran an online sweepstakes last June(?) - winners were to be announced in August). Karma check cashed, I guess.

Mine C-Series has never leaked but I suppose that does not mean none of them will. I find I like the hose shutoffs better on my rena XP series but otherwise they are about as easy as each other to clean and maintain.
