Hi all, three tanks. two planted, 50 and 30. the only plant that fares well is the nana. gh is way up there, well water. all else is in normal parameters. changes 25% once a week. fish load, light. Any suggestions? thanks.

standard daylight bulbs 2 18" no co2 ( according to chart w/chem measure it's ok) fert, liquid once a month
what kind of plants have you tried? with that lighting plants like java moss, java fern, lace fern, anubias, hornwort and anacharis should all do fine.
edit: you have 36w on both the 30g and the 50g? this is enough for low light plants on the 30g, is a little low for the 50g

the fifty is in a window, java moss lasts for awhile. but whatever is planted never seems to be healthy with the execption of the nana
I had a large sword for a year+ but it just didn't fare well. Is it possible there is something in the water that I haven't tested for?
Hard water can make things difficult. Have you tried Cryptocoryne balansae or ciliata. They do well in brackish water so should do well your tank. Other remedy is using a water softener. May also want to increase frequency of ferts.
