Great fish there. I haven't had any experience with them, but they seem beautiful.

thanks guys, shes not even showing off her colors that well, or the camera washed it out? what i find suprising is that it mellowed out as it got larger, kinda just hangs around picking at the rocks and gravel all day. Shes also not as thick as others ive seen at the same size, which makes me think even more that its a female. Its currently in the tank with a 5" Carpinte(bully), 3 clown loaches, a red tailed shark, a common pleco, a featherfin cat, and 2 glass cats and soon il lbe adding a female festae to the tank once it grows a bit. time for turkey talk you all on monday!

So the thing isn't aggressive?

Nice one though, how long have you had it?

they dont get those colors with age they have them from a very small size(1" or so) Is he/she the dominant fish? what size tank is it in?

its in a 220 gallon, it is aggressive just not nearly has nuts as the midas i gave to mojo. its colors are getting more vivid instead of fading with age, mostly the blue color on the lips and the edges of all the finnage. my friend has 4 of them all adults and none of them lost the colors as they got older like it is believed to happen. I dont think it has anything to do with being dominant because it shared a tank with a very dominant male midas, a female midas, and a mayan cichlid. Now its sharing the 220 with just a carpinte and a bunch of various bottom feeders, and soon a female festae. Im waiting for the day its attitude does a 180 and it goes phsyco, but so far so good.
