I managed to get myself a "Trap-eze" fish trap second hand from Ebay. I've got to say it's pretty impressive. I set up in my tank about an hour ago and already I've had several chromis and my sixline wrasse go into it. I haven't shut the trap door on any of them yet as I'm waiting til Thursday to start catching fish, but so far, I'm definately impressed.

What, if anything, entices the target fish or fishes to enter the trap?

normally you should place the type of food that your fish eats that you are trying to catch into the trap according to my readings. However patience is the biggest issue that you'll need. But better this that having to disassemble your tank going after the fish.

Put some more food in:grinyes:. If you look at the top left hand corner you can see a lump of fine mussel. Because fish will always go after food, once they know the trap isn't a threat they'll keep going in (hopefully) to try and get the food. I'm currently waiting for my lights to come on today so I'll let you know how it goes when the fish "wake up". I'm hoping to catch the Bangaiis. Wish me luck!!!

Edit: In case no-one had realised, that Chromis is in the trap!!!

Cool -where can I get one of these traps? I do not need it anytime soon, but this seems to me to be one of those items to have laying around, just in case.

For any of those who doubted me - I caught two!!! I was actually after my sixline wrasse but got a chromis as well!!

Edit: Amazingly enough the Chromis has already gone back into the trap to eat some more food. I'm still waiting for my Bangaiis to try it !!!!

Why are you sequestering these particular species anyway? Have they become a nuisance? What are they destroying, which I have inferred by your naming them blighter?
