I am getting a 40 gal long soon and I am planning to do a planted discus display. All of my other tanks up till now have been primarily large aggressive cichlids. I sis a planted 29 gal. for a while but knew very little about plants at the time. I plan on doing this setup right from the start.

So far I have already purchased:
Hagaen CO2 unit w/bubble counter
Zoo Med flora-sun bulbs
Emperor 280 filter
300 watt heater

I am getting the tank used from my LFS and I still need to order a hood and strip light. My 1st question is should I get a dual strip light or would one be enough?
Also, Should I get another filter or will the emperor be enough?

Finally, does anyone have any suggestions for a first time discus owner. I have read a lot about their requirements and what not, but I always feel that individual advice is much more valuable since you have all been there before
