I got off work early today and decided to repaint my tank stand. I bought the tank and stand on craigslist for a rediculously cheap price, but the stand was pretty beat up with deep scratches and punctures. this is what it looked like:
(I already took the doors off)

I went to home depot and bought a 3$ can of paint.

20 minutes later I was done and the paint dried really fast. here's what it looks like now.

Looks good.....

But....
Hate to tell you, the stand looks like it was stained and varnished (cheaply from factory with oil products), and just as oil and water don't mix, water based paint, such as the $3 acrylic you used, has a hard time sticking to oil and glossy surfaces.

Keep it nearby to touch up scratches.
