Hi all, Well, I finally did it, I plunged into an uncontrollable spending spree starting with the hefty purchase of a custom 150g tank with stand and canopy. I bought the appropriate sump for wet/dry filtration. I will be constructing the required plumbing shortly and I was wondering what is a proper adhesive for joining the PVC. I figured that I would use silicone instead of the PVC glue for fear that it might leach chemicals into my water- Thanks for any input- Jamie

I've never had a problem from using PVC cements (two-part deal, primer and adhesive). I allow to dry/cure 24 hr., then rinse well w/running water and put in place. There is much, much PVC work in my tank room. Silicone is not as good a seal or as lasting IME.

Not that you should need reassurance after RTR has spoken, but I agree! My intake is pvc that was primed and glued using pvc primer and pvc cement.
