I added about 10 small plant bulbs to my 10g a week ago, now today there is some with white fuzz on some of the bulbs does that mean they are rotted? So far i have one sprouting. They were lily, onion, and algon??something. They came from petsmart.

if they are soft and mushy to the touch then take them out, white fuzz could just be fungus growing on them, I believe mine had a tiny amount of fuzz on it but nothing major. Careful with the onion plant, the root tends to rot first out of all of the bulbs

That reminds Me, I need to check on my lotus bulb. it had a wierd brown fuzz last time I checked on it. How long are they supposed to take to sprout? I have such a poor memory for things like that.

I was also wondering if i have them placed right. The bulbs are about 1/2 way into the substrate do they need to be deeper?

when i first bought bulbs they all rotted so sent them into the company stated on back of package.they sent me new ones and there all growing so if yours are having problems just return them.though i have a bulb with brown fuzzy stuff that i have had in my tank for 2 months and its just now starting to root.

I've dealt with them before. They sent back more new bulbs than I returned

Lotus (at least mine) can go thru dormant periods for a few weeks or months. As long as the bulb itself isn't soft and rotted, it should wake up. I started with one, and now keep that and several daughter bolbs in the tank so that I always have at least one putting out leaves even if some are dormant.

If you wonder if it's rotten, smell it. I had some rot in my substrate. I took them out, gave them a sniff, and they smelt like road kill. But I'm weird like that... I sniff everything. :)
