You have a sick betta in a 56oz container. The medication says to use 1 tablet per 10 gallons of water. You dissolve the tablet in a 16oz container of water. How much of the concentrated solution from the 16oz container do you add to the 56oz container to medicate your fish?

Put your Betta in a 1 gallon bucket. Put 1/10th of the 16oz medication in the bucket - simple Or if you really must fill the little betta jar with water from the 1 gallon
56oz (fluid oz??) = 2 3/4 pints!!! :( :( :( not quite 1 1/2 litres - someone correct me if I'm wrong.
By the way your Betta may be sick because of the piffling amount of water he has to live in. 10 gallons would serve him very well and he would thank you daily, by becoming more and more beautiful and lively.

Ahh that's a good idea Aderyngals, thanks.
I breed bettas, they are all in that sized container (acrylic beanie babie boxes), but they are on a central filtration system with a 50 gallon sump. This is a new betta that hasn't been added to the main system yet, he's in quarantine. But he never really perked up since shipping so I decided to give him some antibiotics to see if that helps. His container is cleaned daily with a 30-50% water change. I think he has dropsy, his scales are sticking out a bit, but he's still eating so I have hope for him yet :)

(Note: that is not my system, this one belongs to Ken & Wanda Newby of River Bend Bettas. I don't have photos of mine taken yet, but it's basically the same. I used their instructions to construct mine.)

;) Kinda like a Betta "Matrix" :p
10 gallons=1280 ounces
56 oz= approx 1/23rd of ten gallons
Add 1/23rd of 16 oz or .7 ounces
Three tablespoons in a ounce.
Two tablespoons would be two thirds or .66 or approximately .7
HTH (And hope I'm right)

Hi Arkylady,
I read your posting where you have a betta jar filtration system, and I am desperately looking for plans to construct my own system. I have almost 200 bettas, and spend all my time changing water. Can you tell me where to start? I would really appreciate it. If you are no longer using this forum, I am sending out an SOS to anyone who might be able to direct me to betta jar filtration plans; they need to be easily understood and implemented, because I am mechanically challenged. heheh.
