Elephant noses

I have read several things on the web about elephant noses, but they are never quite clear on temperment and size. Does anyone have experience with them?

I want to know if they are good community fish and how big they get.

I've also heard that they will play with inanimate objects, is it true?

They seem like interesting fish, and I would like to own one... but not if they get huge and will kill every thing off in my tank. If if they aren't good with smaller fish, are there similiar species that can be kept in a community with smaller fish?

I don't know much about them , but I know what they look like and it doesn't look they they could eat another fish easily, and I think thaey are quite slow.
