Hi, i started cycling my new 130g reef tank on 29th July. All that is in the tank at the moment is 5"dsb(playsand) ,water and 4 large cocktail shrimps. My parameter`s have checked out like so:
29th july-:temp 27c,spg 1.023,ph 8.2,amonia 0,nitrite 0,nitrate 0

2nd aug-: temp 27c,spg 1.023,ph 8.2,amonia 1.0,nitrite 0,nitrate 0

10th aug-:temp 27c,spg 1.023,ph 8.2,amonia 4.0,nitrite 0,nitrate0

18th aug-:temp 27c,spg 1.023,ph 8.2,amonia 0,nitrite 4.0+,nitrate 100 mg/l

It all looks to be going ok,does the above all seem in order?
I am going on holiday on thurs 21st august for 2 weeks so i expect the cycle to be near completion on my return,is there anything i should do before i go or just leave everything as it is?
I hope to add my LR a week or two after my return and then start with livestock.

THANKS C+B

Should be good to go. Since you will be gone for an extended time, you may need to have someone check in and topoff with freshwater to make up for evaporation losses--I know my tank would lose about 30+ gallon in that time. If the current shrimp are almost gone, adding another one before you leave shouldn't hurt--you don't want the ammonia source to disappear and starve the bacteria before you can return and begin stocking.

i have an auto top up system so no problem there but my father will keep an eye out as he will be feeding my clownfish in my small 25g existing tank. There is still about 6o% of the shrimps left (THEY WERE BIG TO START WITH) will this be OK

your doin better than me, I have been sitting on a cycling tank now for 6 weeks. probably 4 of which nothing has changed, other than shrimp are gone, and tank has gone from cloudy to clear to cloudy again. I am hoping that I do not need to start over.
