Can anyone tell what kind of algae this is and how to get rid of it? It does not appear to be getting long like hair algae, but is very deep green. Have tried water changes and phosphate adsorbers. All other parameters look good.

How can I control? Hermits?

A crew of hermits ought to put a hurt on that algae. I have algae that looks very similar to that. It only grows on my glass, though, because the hermits and my cleaner shrimp clean everything they can climb on. You might try assorted snails or a starfish, and I hear that emerald crabs will do a fantastic job on green algae.

In my experience the emerald crabs do the best work on the green hair algea. I had gotten 2 for my 125 and my rocks were pretty clean in a short time. They don't seem to go for anything on the sand though. Maybe if I got a couple more they would move off the rocks.

I think Conchs will work on that type of algea as well, and they will cover the glass. Scarlet Herimts can help out the sand bed.
