Is it advisable to keep 2 tomato clowns without an anemone in a 100 gallon FOWLR tank?

They don't need an anemone, but you should get them young so that they'll pair off.

Clowns will host with anything, really. An anemone isn't necessary. I had a maroon clown that hosted with a piece of dead coral. Your tomato clowns should be just fine.

Lol. Mine picked a rock in the back of the tank and proceded to remove all the sand around it. Now the two back corners have 6" of sand, the back center has about an inch, and the rest of the tank has 4".

How about tomato clowns with percula clowns in a 100G tank?

Mixing clowns is dicey. They can be very aggressive, and if the perculas are smaller, they might be killed by the maroons. I had the opposite--a pair of percula killed a small maroon I added without knowing there might be a problem. They literally killed it off within about 8 hours--it looked fine when added, and was okay the next morning. By the time I got home from work, the maroon was a tattered husk, and the perculas were gleefully dragging it's body around the tank.

I do know people who have mixed individuals of different kind s(ie, a tomato and a maroon and a clarki), as long as the fish are the same size and can pick a good spot. I wouldn't risk it, personally.

I agree with Oriongirl, don't mix the different types. Even in a big tank, clowns can get very aggressive. If you are going to add two, make sure they are close to the same size and young, as Mogurnda suggested. That way, they should pair off and be quite happy.

I mix different clowns in tanks as small as 75 gallons all the time. I use tank breed and raised clowns. I use the same size, small. And I add them all at once. They MUST have adequate hidding places made from LR or other items placed in the tank.

If done this wat a 100 gallon can host 3 pairs of clownfish. You may not be able to put much else in the tank.
