I just wanted to post to thank everyone for helping me with my filter problem. I purchased a Filstar XP1, cause I already have penguin 330, and MAN, did that tank clear up quick! And the tank is finally finishing its cycle, which seems to have been stuck with the penguin, but it terms of ease of use, results and whatever else you wanna know, I would say canister filters are the way to go!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have an XP2 & XP3 and love 'em both! They are both on a 100 tank of 2 oscars, 2 jack dempseys & 1 large pleco. The XP2 was my first canister filter, and I have been very pleased. Being a newbie to the hobby, I researched canister filters for awhile before buying one. What sold me on them was the media baskets for easy removal & cleaning, auto priming, and the auto shutoff before the motor overheats. You made a good choice!
