1) can i shorten the roots of my glosso?
2) can i cut the top of my rotala to stop the growth?
3) riccia - to reproduce it, i just cut it up randomly in smaller pieces right?
thanks for anwsering.
1) plant the individual(tiny) plants. It will want initially, to grow upright. As it does, cut it back close to the substrate and replant what you've cut. With good light it will eventually start to grow horizontally.
2) you can cut off the tops and replant them to shorten, but this will not stop the growth. After a while the old stems just above the roots will start to look ratty. At that time, cut off the tops, and pull the bottom parts and roots out of the substrate and replant the tops.
3) you don't need to cut riccia up. The plant will eventually form a "pad" which will get bigger and bigger with good light and CO2.
If you anchor it on a rock or similar object you'll have to give it a "hair cut" every now and then to keep it looking nice. The pieces you've cut off will float to the surface and start to form a new pad.
