Can water lettuce grow from a leaf?

My water lettuce goes through cycles: sometimes it divides like crazy, even from just one piece of a leaf, other times it seems to kind of die off a bit and the roots get all stubby and the leaves kind of shrivel up a bit. So, I would bet that it would regenerate from just one leaf, but I wouldn't guarantee it if I were you.
