java moss pics?

Hair Aglae Growth...

I got rid of the Java Moss I had. It started getting hair algae and I decided it's time to go....

Well, I think my moss is attractive, I don't use it any way that's particularly different, except for the stuff I have growing on plastic canvas on the back wall, which I am going to expand to cover more wall:

p.s. look at the other thread "What type of Moss do I have?" Now, there is some VERY attractive java moss in the pics.

Kveeti, Excellent looking moss! ;)

Thanks, you can see it does much better than the pathetic vals in the back (which are green and they spread, except they are mighty short, my java moss grows taller, LOL.)

The wall is plastic needlepoint canvas (craft store/Wal-Mart). The one I used there is "clear" but it tends to look too white. When I re-do it bigger, I think black canvas will blend in better. I sewed a suction cup on each end with fishing line, because I wanted to be able to detach it from the tank to take it out for rinsing and trimming. This leaves a space between the canvas and the tank wall, but the fish (mine are small types) like to play behind there. You could just lay the canvas against the wall and bury the bottom bit into the gravel, I guess. I wanted something to hide the intake tube of my filter.

Anyhow, I lay the moss on the canvas and made large basting stitches horizontally and vertically with fishing line. It looked pretty unnatural at first until it filled in, the moss was just kinda in checkerboard clumps.

Well, I don't wish to take credit for anything but passing it along. I am fairly new to planted tanks and before getting real plants I did an extensive amount of reading. I am sure I read the idea somewhere else first. The only thing I did that was my own idea was attaching the suction cups.
