I just purchased a python "no spill" system and as you know, the advantage of it is that you can add water directly from your tap. They claim that the movement of the water through the apparatus and into the tank is enough to get rid of most of the chlorine. Have others had experience/success using this product adding water straight from the tap? They also state that you can just add some water conditioner to your tank and that will make absolute sure all the chlorine is gone. Is this better? Comments/suggestions?

I use a python and have always been in the habit of adding conditioner. Better safe than sorry if you ask me.

I add the dechlorinator directly to the tank as i'm filling with the Python. It would be interesting to test the water from a Python with a chlorine test kit. Are your sure that chloramine isn't added to your water?
My water company only ads chlorine.

I do the same as delmore, I add stress coat directly to the water as it is entering the tank from the python. I really don't know how the tube would rid the water of chlorine, it can't gass off if it's in the tube.

me 2 I always add Stress Coat b4 changing water w/ the Python

id say.. add conditioner.. when im at my cousins house. they someimtes use.. bottled" spring water" to fill the betta bowl with. i awlays slip a few drops of conditioner in there , while they arent looking ;)

Thanks for the help guys...I broke in the python tonight with a good vacuuming of the gravel and a 25% water change. I added water conditioner as the tap water was flowing into the tank. Fish seem ok an hour later...hopefully they'll stay that way!

I think you are right on to add conditioner to the water while filling the tank. That's what I do. I don't think the chlorine is really the issue anymore in water conditioning. From what I've read in other posts & forums, the chloramine is what is the problem, and chloriamine is not eliminated from the water as it passes through the python.
