I have 4 Bushys in my 100gal. They have been there a while but I do not have any algae (well not enough to feed 4 bushys). I drop algae waffers in at night but not sure if they are eatting them (I also have about 10 corys). Does anyone actually feed them?? And with what??

I have had them and fed then just like I do my other pleco's. Zuchini, mango, peas, etc;.They devour it.

Algea wafers, shrimp pellets, zucchini are the top faves.

I have the same feeding request and get the same answers. Whenever I put in any sort of food my cichlids eat it well before my BN has a chance to get to it. The cichlids love the algae wafers, it's like a feeding frenzy. They also like the cucumbers. I only have one BN in a 75 gallon. He seems to be doing well with whatever he's eating.

I actually have the same dilemma. I lost one rubber pleco already because he wasnt getting enough food. at least thats what I think since water params are great.

only thing that changed is that I put Flourish root tabs in the sand few days ago, could that have something to do with the death?

there is some algae on the background and I did see both of them on there grazing but could never tell if they were eating wafers, zucchini or lettuce I had dropped in there. I usually drop it in after lights out but could never see them eating any of it. they were both aroun 1.5" and I hope not to lose that last one. they are just too cool looking. :)

oz & ms:

Please note that my tank is planted.

I overcame the situation you described by slightly overfeeding but please note that I have a ton of biological filtration media in my sump as well as MTSs in my tank.

try feeding at night. BN's tend to be nocturnal the other fish prob won't get to the food as quickly.
