Catalogs are great to read and see what products are out there for the hobby. Pet Solutions and Big Al's offer free catalogs. Maybe some more people can recommend other businesses...

Thanks for the suggestion! I went to both places and requested catalogs! I love to get stuff in the mail -- living in NW Iowa, we are about 3 hours away from any major city or airport not to mention THE STORES! So I've really come to love catalogs! :D

I'm just curious if everybody who ordered catalogs about the same time as I did (after reading this post) has gotten them yet?
So far, all I have received is from DrsFosterSmith and it's the Pond/Wild Bird catalog. I haven't received any others yet!
I've really enjoyed the one I DID get since I seem to have taken up a new hobby in the last two weeks: feeding the birds on our acreage!

Just giving you an easy link to That Fish Place. We've been ordering from them for years now and have always had good service from them.

If you're looking for aquarium lighting, Champion Lighting & Supply is an excellent site to check out.

I get doctor foster and smith (about every one they put out actually) along with thatfishplace, and petwarehouse. Just ordered bigals after seeing it on here. Is there anyone else that sells mailorder pet supplies that you guys and gals know of?

I just got the Big Al's catalogue on Monday, took over a month to get, but it was worth it, so much great stuff and insane prices.

If you ever get near Lancaster, PA, you have to stop at That Fish Place's retail store. The place is lots of fun, and just huge. Its about the size of a superwalmart. They have a huge and usually well cared for fish room, and even a saltwater touch tank.
However, that aside, there prices can often be higher than big al's or pet solutions.
My 2 cents.

I just got this one by surprise a few days ago. We had ordered an Icecap cooling fan from this place online a long time ago and now they've got a mail-order catalog. Looks like a few things in here may be cheaper than in other catalogs (haven't checked out shipping prices yet), also some different brand names and products I've never seen before. Enjoy!

It says they also have a livestock site at:

I just got one from Dr. FosterSmith. The prices are higher then Big Als, but I liked looking at all the fish things. It was a pretty big catalogue.

I cant believe how cheap these guys are compared to the petstores. I compared a filter I was looking at that was $ 60.00 in my local petstore. It was as low as 19.99 for the same thing in one of those catalogs.
I bought a test kit that I wanted for $27.00 last night and the same dam one is on one of those sites for $14.99.

I got a Dr. Foster & Smith catalog in two days! I can't believe the prices. Filters of almost 50% cheaper then in the lfs. See if I go back!!!! Most the other stuff is 20%
