I took my camera to the Fish show in town (Edmonton) this weekend and managed to get some decent pictures. Most of the pics I took were of cichlids, but I do have some others as well so thought

German Red Peacock:

Lionfish:

This guy won best in show, and was labelled as Sciaenochromis Fryeri:

Telmatochromis vittatus:

Clown Fish:

Rainbowfish of some type:

I'll post some of the other pics in thread II. More can also be found at http://members.shaw.ca/molino/Fish_Show/Fish_Show.html
Hope you enjoy!

I have a Sciaenochromis Fryeri (used to be "ahli"), and he's a mean fish and only seems to 'tolerate' his tank mates. Tell ya what though, what he lacks in personality he more than makes up for in awesome appearance (he's more reflective, like blue foil, than the one in the pic).

let's extend the discussion...

what camera did you use? aperture setting? shutter speed? soup of the day?

j/k. :D

Thanks everyone.

nvision: I used a Canon G3 with an external flash for these pics.

edit: does anyone know what that blue and yellow fish behind the clownfish is?

That would be a correct assessment, Andy. The Blue Devil is a sort of Damsel. (So are Clowns...:D)

Clowns are in the same family as damsels, but they arent damsels. And i know we could argue about this all day long:D ( in the end you would win)

The old squares aren't rectangles argument? Bring it on! :D (J/K, Andy!)

Now back after our regularly-scheduled pseudo-hijacking...:D

I thought you were going to prove me wrong in one post. Dont make it long and painful:D

O yeah sorry about the hi- jacking part.

umm yeah......those fish....are nice.

J/K:D Really the Fryeri is a fav of mine too, but i always wanted a reef tank so i cant give up on the clownfish, plus they are my favorite anyways.
( im debating whether or not i want to take this to the SW forums chil, it might be my only oppurtunity i ever have lol)

So it's a Blue Devil (Chrysiptera cyanea), a type of Damsel.
Thanks Andy and ChilDawg :D

No prob...I thought that it looked familiar, and it turned out to be the first damsel in distress, er, Scott W. Michael's book (which is pretty good and not distressful at all...)!

Well it was mostly chil, but thanks. All damsels look the same pretty much to me, just with differnt colors.

Very Nice Pics! ... :) I could hear the 'German Red Peacock' saying, "What? You don't have anything for me?"
