I have a 20 gal community tank with mollies guppies a pl*co and 4 betas! I have 2 males and 2 females! They don't fight! I don't reccomend this, because they usually kill each other...but i put one male in one breeders net and the other in the other...they both somehow made a hole in the net and get along fine! There is the occasonal display, but they both swim for the opposite of the tank...lol anyone else with this good luck?

**PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT TRY THIS!!! IT MAY NOT WORK AND YOU COULD KILL OR SERIOUSLY INJURE YOUR BETTAS!!!**

I keep 2 males and 3 females in my 75. The males don't even pay attention to one another... and are 'gentle' with the females. I have done this previously with bettas also. But I agree, I wouldn't try this unless you have some experience under your belt :D

it becomes more possible to keep male betas together the larger your tank is and if they don't always have a clear view of the other rivals you have a better chance at success
I read a post back some time ago that a betta breeder kept non-show quality males together from birth 5-8 in a twenty long. there were some sqabbles and some times fins got torn but nothing serious like you hear bettas are capable of

Another thing to consider is the type of male betta. Wild caught fish--which are available online and probably in other locations, as well as fish bred specifically to fight, should not be combined. The strains sold in most LFS are bred for color and fin shape, rather than aggression. The fish that are bred to fight--mostly in Thailand and the Far East--are much more aggressive than our locally farm produced fish.

Ive kept 2 males and 3 females in a 20 gallon. The males hardly ever mess with each other because of the space.
