They're dyed. They're only rare because most people won't dye Os.
One of the new kids on the block, I personally wouldn't contribute to this, I don't care if it is "genetic coding"

Yeah my lfs just had a 'blueberry' oscar in. Expect the dye to wear off in a few months...

They'd be dyed albinos...not regular ones.
Thank you everyone...I mainly bought it cuz it was being beat up and he said he was gonna "get rid of him soon" The price wasn't bad...$6...I paid more for my large albino...

That's a dangerous row to hoe, as others may be subjected to similar treatment in its stead...
He is about 2-3 inches...Really cute...I will still love him even if he was falsely advertised...I need a name for him...

Huh. I tend to like "Blueberry" better than "BluBerry".
I think naming it after the Gainsborough painting and giving it the moniker "Blue Boy" would be interesting.

His name is now christened BlueBerry or Blue Boy if he is Naugty (you know how oscars are...) Thank you all for your replys!
There was an article in TFH magazine many moons ago that stated that there was a morph of the Oscar that was in fact a blue. I know...I know...I was the first one to yell "stinky foul" when I saw the BB Oscar. Hell, I bought one that eventually died (not dyed). I was posting the same about the "dye job". Here's the photo that was printed with the article:

I bought am Albino Veiled Tiger Oscar from Jeff Rapps a while back. He described the appearance as being white with some "blue undertones". It wasn't blue of course but I saw what he meant. The part of the body that was free of markings. You can't see it in these photos, but I wanted to show this beautiful fish:

I have see the obvious "dyed blue" Oscars for sale at the LFS. But the information published in what I consider to be a respectable magazine (TFH) has made me rethink my original opinion. I think the majority (vast majority) of the fish on the market are dyed. VUt I do believ that with all of the various flavors of Oscar available today that it is possible.
Again...not my words but a pro at the magazine.
