hi there i have got some black slime stuff in my external filter hoses can some one tell me what it is and how to stop it the walter is fine and clear and the filter is cleaned every two weeks

I just made another post on this, I don't know what it is either. Do you have plants in your tank?

Leaving filter parts in a mild bleach solution for a few hours will clean them. Do you have percarbonate washing powder (without soap, detergent or perfume) in the UK like the OxyClean we have in the States? That works to clean filter equipment too.
Don't compromise the bacterial community that's already in the media, where you want it housed, however!
