Most danios and tetras would be suitable for you if you're just beginning in freshwater. My suggestion is to visit a bookstore and browse their selection of aquarium fish books. There will be profiles for each common fish available, rating each fish as a hardy or delicate fish. Unless you're willing to put in the effort of caring for delicate fish right now, I would stick to fish that aquarium books suggest for beginners, such as the fish aforementioned above.

As already said... you have tons of options. If you'd like larger schooling fish, check out the bigger tetra species (which would go along nicely with the other SA fish you've chosen). Bleeding Hearts, Congos, Lemons, Penguin... again, a ton of options. :)
I still prefer loaches and barbs but I am biased because after all, I keep plenty of these currently.;)

Oooh! A 55 gal offers soooo many options...any chance you can narrow it down a bit?

Yes, but you're a bad influence and the part of the reason that my SA "biotope" has loaches instead of Cories! :grinyes:

If you're going for tetras, I'm currently a big fan of red-eye tetras. They are hardy, decently sized, active, and shiny.
You can cycle tanks with them even, they are super tough.
