The 40 gal stocking is in my sig. I'll post again:
40 gal planted:
10 white clouds, 4 otocinclus, 4 kuhli loaches, 2 Mickey Mouse platies, and 2 USD cats.
Since I don't know how to calculate bioload for the life of me, I need your help! Am I overstocked?

The cats are chilling under anubias leaves for now, and the platies spend a lot of time in the middle. It's weird.
Does anybody know how to figure out the bioload of fish? I don't want to have to rely on y'all whenever I make a fish decision; I make enough threads already.

Sounds OK to me. Not near over stocked.

i'd probably add a few more otos, in fact. and (just me) a female betta to nibble on some platy fry.

I'd add one bigger "centerpiece" fish and call it stocked.

Your tank is well stocked.

I wouldn't mind a few more otos, but I want to wait until the ones I have have full bellies. There's one that demands to be a model, I guess.
And no, I won't be having anyone snacking on fry. I want to raise some.

...Pearl Gourami? For the centrepiece?

Yep. I don't see why you cannot try one.
