Goldfish.
Never thought I'd get sucked into the world of fancy goldfish, but I am. They've got personality!

Did you know that you can vote for all on this poll? I did just that...I love all fish...
I'll have my livebearer tank going soon and I'll be adding two female Bettas to Josh's ten gallon in the suite...we have gf fry growing at home...I might have convinced my parents to let me start a Con tank at home (with a similar one here...kind of a vacation home for the Con)...my Cories are at home b/c they've suffered the ills of travel enough, but I love them, too! :)
Shoal fish and tank cleaners :)

i'm partial to loaches: 5 yoyos, 2 clowns, and 5 skunks compose 1/2 the population of one of my tanks and all play together. of course, most of the other half of that tank is composed of pearl and moonlight gouramis. so i suppose those are my favorites, but when i get more $$ and another tank, i plan on devoting it to the gouramis and some catfish.
oh, but i'm wrong...those are all up there, but my #1 fish is my tiretrack eel. he is the biggest winner of all time.

Just standard platies for right now, while I'm at school...I'll probably start Het-forms next year if I go into the work world. :)
(As well as Gambusia and Belonesox...I gotta have my predators!!!)

Overall, I would have to say Cichlids...as it such a diverse group of fishes. Bottom dwellers are a close second, as I love me some loaches, as well.

Heyyyy....I didn't realize I could choose more than one... Silly me shoulda read the thread first before voting. My vote is for cories, killis, livebearers, and anything else that happens to come home with me :) Do plants count? I spent enough on them :p

Livebearers. I don't have a tank at this moment, but I'm planning to start one for livebearers (probably platies). I used to have guppies and platies some years ago, and I get such a kick out of my fish breeding!

I'd have to say cichlids, and especially Angels. Not sure what it is, but always levetate to having them when finishing a cycle.

andy have you tried www.fishbase.org for details? if it is scientifically identified then it will be in there and they can probably give you links to sites with more info.
ok I think the problem you had was you have the wrong genus.
are you talking about the glass knifefish? (http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.cfm?ID=48000&genusname=Rhabdolichops&speciesname=troscheli)

Nope not the knifefish, its a mesoamerican cichlid
I couldnt find it on fishbase either.
Thanks for your help demon
Cichlids of course... It's all I have with the exception of a few Loaches.
Definatly bottom feeders, loaches, corries, little catfish.
Why in the world did I get a tall aquarium, when I could of fit more bottom feeders in a long?:o

I really like oddballs, but cichlids are cool too.
My favorite ??? Discus....why??....probably because I don't have any....LOL !
But of the fish I DO have......well, it started with bettas, just couldn't get enough of them...I'm up to about 17 right now. THEN.... I discovered german blue rams ! Whoa...beautiful fish ! Raised a batch of fry and had a hard time selling them I got so attached to them all...lol. And now....hhmm..I'd have to say, my favorites at present are my shell dwellers. Not as colorful as the rams, but lots of fun to watch........Jeesh ! I guess I'm just fickle when it comes to fish......what can I say ? ! :p:

Bottom dwellers are the coolest - really love the cats. Like oddballs and brackish as well. Really though I got attention defi**** disorder so I'm kind of fickle.

Oscars, Goldfishes (Comets/Shubunkins), and Sharks (Bala Sharks)!
I just love my “school of Sharks,” and the Oscars are in there with them.
The Goldfishes are in an outdoor pond.
I also have Convicts (a breeding pair), and Ghost-Shrimps.

BIAS what about the people who don't like what's listed but are too lazy to say what they like? well a) they don't vote or b) you get BIAS
Catfish. Because they're weird. Especially synodontis. However I do like my redtail shark and bolivian rams.
They don't count as fish, probably, but Firebelly newts and ADFs easily equal any fish. (especially when ADFs try to eat 3inch cameroon shrimps)
I like guppies too, but i used to really hate them when i started out with tropical fish. Their tails really annoyed me.

I'm with RockabillyChick..
I have 2 of them and it is so cool how they stalk and eat even pellet and flake foods. I also like my senegal birchirs for the same reasons.
I may just have to get a 300 wide so I can have a few more species..
