Nutrafin "Natural Plant System" experience?

irishspy

There is a stargate in my aquarium.
Howdy,

I just received one of these today and I plan to install it this weekend. I was wondering if anyone with experience with this system has advice to offer: tips on how to use it best, or things to avoid. It'll be going into the 10g listed below.

(Mods: I put this here since we're talking about plants and CO2, but feel free to move it to the equipment section if that works better. I couldn't make up my mind.)

Thanks! :headbang2:

I have seen them--IMO just fine for a small tank.

I've used 1 before on a 20, I liked the ladder-type diffuser, but I didnt like the bottle. I dont like having a DIY mixture that close to the tank, and I had a few near disasters just screwing the lid on, hehe.

Same here Riiz...and it seems to run out rather quickly and without notice. As for the actual results, not bad. It would probably work much better on a 10 than my 30, which is pushing the limit. I personally would have gone with DIY but I seem to be stuck with mine until I get enough use out of it to justify spending the money on it.

Thanks for the advice, folks. :)

Oooh, something I meant to ask: I've read of problems caused by CO2 systems running during the lights-out cycle because the plants reverse their respiration. Does this system generate enough CO2 for that to be a problem? Should I look for some sort of valve so I can shut it off at night?

I do not think that it will make enough CO2 to be a problem.

But you are right, plants use O2 at night but not that much.

Thanks, Tanker. :)

(And, admit it. You really are Shannon from "Lost," aren't you? Confess!)
