what are some nive tropical plants that would make a nice tropical theme? I know nothing about plant species, and i am only $4 away from my shiny new lights, so its time to get some knowledge. I want to go for a more bright tropical theme, not hte calm planted tanks you usually see, somehitng more exiting, with a "bright" look too it. I also have black snad, but i have pure white sand i can switch over too if that would be better.

Well, by judging your taste in music and your love for Jimmy Buffet(in music thread), I'm guessing you are aiming for a tropical island theme? Palm trees and such? Hmm..
You could try bamboo in your tank as well as some banana plants.

You mean dead bamboo right? The banana plant looks cool also. Any other ideas?
The tropical island thing is a good way to put what i am trying to do.

Red tiger lotus look "tropical" too and so do some of the swords, especially the red melons and the ocelot swords. Sunset hygro could possibly have a nice topitacky look too. Don't forget the coconut halves!
