I have a situation where I can utilize a tank that only has one side (the front) being glass. SO, I am planning on building a plywood/glass tank and was interested if anyone had any experience with this that could offer any advice (dos or donts) or express any concerns(reasons not to do it). Space is not an issue so I am planning it to be 8'x4'x2'. It will be a freshwater "planted aquarium" if that makes any difference. I am following the guidelines set forth here (http://www.garf.org/tank/BuildTank.asp) to build it.

They talk about top bracing, and the epoxy, the two most critical parts.
Slip, I remember a member on AC that built on and chronicled it here. Could you drag it up or is it from the old board?

You might want to reconsider the height of the tank, if you stay at 18 inches or under you can use 1/4 inch glass/acrylic, however if you go over the 18 inch barrier then you'll have to switch to a thicker (ie 1/2") glass/acrylic.
I ran into this exact problem with my corner tank i'm building now, had to get thicker, way more expensive, acrylic because of the height of it.
