I work at a Pet Store, and we used a Fluval 304 to filter a feeder tank. We now longer use it so I got it, (and media,) for free. What size tank would you all recomend for the filter?

260ghp, I would use it with a 30-40 gallon tank.

I use the 404 in conjunction with a Aquaclear 500 on a 60 gallon.

IMO, canisters should be used with HOB because they don't do such a great job with regards to mechanical filtration. Awesome for biological though.

the first thing I would do is toss the media ALL of it the whole works and replace if it was on a feeder tank.
It has been infected buy every disease known to the hobbie.
I also sure that media is soaked with all sorts of chemicals from numorous ich and various other treatments.
I work at a large LFS and wouldent take anything out of our feeder tanks with out bleaching and replacing anything porous.

Yea, thats what I was going to say, throw out the media and royally clean the whole filter, then when your done, do it again.;) Those feeders are nasty.

use bleach to make sure you get all the nasties then wash it again
