Fish store recommand me to dump some medicine like watersafe or tanksave (can't recall the right name) once in a while like weekly maintenance, or after water change, and put a few grop of ick control after the water change. is that a good way or they just want to make some sell.
I have a 20 gal container and age the water at least 3 days before i use it for my fishes and i do make a 20% water change
every 7 days.
thanks !

no dont do that.
only thing you might want to do is dechlorinate the water. but you can do that if you let it sit in the bucket with an airstone for a few days before adding it to the tank.

Do you have an ick problem?? If you do not have a problem, do not add any medicine. If your fish have ick, this is because they are stressed. Either to poor water quality or over crowding, what would help is to do regular water changes and this should help, alot more than adding chemicals.

8 out of 10 times, people at pet stores are full of crap. They are just saying that to make a sale. There would be no reason to do it. They only thing you should add to your water is dechlorinator instead of letting the water sit, and plant ferts, thats about it. You only add medicine when the fish are sick.
