While at the fish auction this past weekend, I happened to run across and buy some Kribs listed as "yellow form"... anyone know what that means?

I got 5 fish in a bag ($8... can't beat it!) and looking at how to sex them and also if anyone has pictures of what they look like grown up. Is there much difference from the 'regular' Pulcher Kribs??

Thanks.

im gonna take a guess at this. they may be a diffrent color morph from a diffrent lake/river or what have you. Remeber this is just a guess but it seems a reasonable conclusion from the name. Hopefully somone else will feel brave enough to qualify this either way! :)

Please know something about a topic before you post.

The "yellow" kribs are just a color variety, like many fish in the aquarium hobby. Treat them as you would the normal color variety.

thats what I said. I told him i was guessing, I just wanted to get the thread going, alot of people seem reluctant to post in threads with no prior replies.

Thanks for the replies guys... apparently no one has had much do to with these guys. I already figured they were just a color morph of some kind, but would like to see pictures or something of what they will look like! Guess when they get bigger, I'll put up some pics. Yes, I'll treat them just like any other Krib as there is no questions that they are Kribs, albeit small ones about 1" total length right now.

And learn to lighten up a little Frame, everyone was just trying to help and comments like that are why no one wants to respond to anything. I'd rather have good guesses to generate some dialog than nothing at all.

And no, they have not been dyed... no real colors yet as they are still small.

Could they be Pelvicachromis taeniatus?

edit: here is a link to the Yellow Krib as well: http://www.cichlidae.com/articles/a161.html (Yellow Krib)

To be honest, they might be some other variation, but were specifically listed as Pelvicachromis Pulcher "Yellow Form". From the pictures you gave, they look a little like they could possibly be the subocellatus form.

Right now they have a nasty outbreak of Ich, so I won't be doing any pics soon!

Thanks,

There is a yellow variant of Pelv. pulcher, but the name yellow krib has been used to describe some other fish as well. If it's described as P. pulcher "yellow form", then it probably is just that. Just a color variant like albino.

Just a couple of days ago I traded a pair of F0 multies for about 80+ yellow kribs. They're only 1/4 -1/2 ", but they look exactly like my regular krib fry. I would expect sexing to be the same as normal pulcher.
