Hi all,

Any recomendations for a good on-line fish source that may ship to Canada?

I am looking for Blue Congo Tetra / Yellowtail Congo Tetra, Hemigrammopetersius caudalis

Thanks,

Keegan

PS: also.. good/bad experiences ordering fish online?

It's pretty hard to find some one to ship up here! Customs is a major pain.. is there perhaps a good LFS that could order your fish in for you?

Hello fellow Albertain,

Actually, various LFS's have been equally unhelpful. Some don't even know what they will get week by week, and don't search by scientific name. Others take down the name of the fish I'm looking for and suggest that I call back "every couple of weeks".. I do not take these as positive signs!

I did finally find the fish I want at www.cichlidexchange.com, they do ship to canada, but the costs to do so are about $100USD / box. I put a message on the Calgary Aquarium Society list that if anyone saw something they liked, we could perhaps share the shipping. You should check it out too!

Do you recomend any good stores in Edmonton? I am up there occasionally.

We deal mostly with one store, Aquarium Illusions. They are in the west end beside the Mayfield Inn. They don't always know what fish they will be able to get too far in advance, they get a list from their suppliers once a week and that is what they order from. But the staff there is very good, and if you talked to Sean I'm sure he would do his best to help you out.

You should make a post with the Aquarium Club of Edmonton (http://www.fish-club.org/) . There is a link to their message boards on their main page. Maybe you'll have some luck there as well.

Good Luck,
Debbie
