Stop having such a nice tank. I think I will have to fly down there and drop a chlorine tablet in since I never hear you say that you have any problems.;) :p

Excellent!
How much time do you spend on maintenance?
Do you do anything special with the water?
What about feeding those guys (how and what)?

Discus are tough to maintain unless you're a fanatic about keeping the water conditions consistent and don't mind ONLY keeping community fish in the tank with them (as they are not aggressive and get their butts handed to them by more aggressive fish).
I really like the plants, it gives the tank a truly authentic feel.

Great pictures Joe!
I especially like the third picture, the one of the blue discus, great looking fish and picture!

Oh Joe- they're gorgeous!
Really stunning!
My first discus in over 30 years are arriving tomorrow- ordered 10 Blue Diamond juveniles. They'll be going into my planted tank after a brief q-tank stay to verify that they're eating and robust. If I hadn't read of your success I wouldn't have had the guts to try them.

This is starting to get kind of redundant but of course I must say I think the tank is very nice. The fish really have some beautiful colours.
I really love discus, they are one of favourite fish but it will be a long time before I am ever able to keep them. I assume by your name that the tank in the pic is 80 gallons. Is that right?

Thanks all for the compliments!
Captain Hook, yes, it's an 80 gallon..
Cearbhaill, I'm sure you'll do great with the new Discus!! Keep the temperature up.. :)
The Gipper, I use R/O water and do weekly water changes. I have 2 canisters running on the 80 gallon tank. They like thawed out Bloodworms, Tetra Color Bits, thawed Brine Shrimp, and Mysis Shrimp. They aren't as picky as I thought they would be..

Where are you getting them? I got ours at 'A Discus Dream' and all 8 were in perfect condition right off the plane!

The plants got a bit stringy after that, but recovered..... I think the cynobacteria was caused from the juices of the thawed out Bloodworms that went to the bottom of the tank. Now I thaw the food on paper towels to prevent it, and it seems to have worked. ;) No more excess 'food juice/liquid' in the tank...
Those are awesome looking tanks. Due to my travelling and lack of help when I am gone I rely a lot on fast growing floating plants to keep the water clean. Makes my tanks look a little crazy jungle like.
