What size tank would I need to house 3 or 4 frontosas? What other fish are compatable with frontosas?

Seeing as these guys reach 14" you would probably need at least 150 gallons, maybe more. However, fronts should really be kept in larger groups than 4. They are also best left to species tanks. They naturally prey on Cyprochromis leptosoma in the wild which are similar in body shape to many Lamprologines. Fronts are slow movers, but opportunistic feeders.

I'd buy a 6 ft (length) tank were I you & thinking about housing Fronts.

I know it's a little daunting to bring home front fry or small ones & release them in (comparatively) such a "big" tank & it kind of seems like wasted space for such small fish, but you'll be surprised at how fast they grow into the space & ultimately glad you id it.

yep they do need some space as for mine they are in a 120gal for 7 fronts at 5 to 6 inches so far but i plan to down the road get a 220 or a 250gal for them i do understand what jpappy is saying i have a harem of brichardi's and a threesome of lelupi's in my 120gal but my fronts can not eat them right now they will ponch only fry at this time..
