I just set up a 20L that came with a Coralife 50/50 6000k bulb in the fixture. Is this enough light for plants in this tank? This is a freshwater tank.

I figured since this is a shallow tank, that it would be OK.

nothing of what you said makes any sense. (sorry  )

50/50 means a tube that has half 10000k/half actinic spectrum. If you have this on your tank it will be quite worthless.
6000k is a good bulb for growing plants. Do you know how many watts it is? That is generally the basis of finding out if you have enough light. People who want to be most successful with plants usually shoot for 2-3 WPG. I doubt that yours is that, sorry. Since you have such a shallow tank fluorescent tubes would be okay, but compact fluorescents would be even better. If you have a canopy for this tank, try to find the 19W 6500k screw-in compact fluorescents from Home Depot (maybe Lowes also)

There are some articles on how to wire them and you would be able to get a good spectrum and wattage for that tank.

Sorry I'm not making sense. I guess part of the problem is that some of the label on the tube is missing. It's a large tube, and I would love to upgrade but $ is tight. If I spend any more money on the tanks this month my DH will kill me.

All I can get is: Coralife 50/50 6000 K

and then underneath this:

Actinic 03
FR20 T12 350Degrees (can't remember how to get that little o for degrees) and then a BP

Must be some kind of serial number.

I guess I'll keep my eye on my plants and if they start to die I'll replace with another bulb.
