OK , This is normal right? During my fish cycle in a system 12Gallon tank(Fake plants at first see below) it took exactly 38 days for the ammonia to turn to nitrite now I'm gong on my 27th day of nitrite. The nitrite levels have never been above .20/.25 and today it appears to be dropping to around .15/.10 I'm guesssing it could take as long as the ammonia took. Now for the fish that I have in it. I started with just 4 Zebras and two Chinesse algea eater. Well, the two Chinesse Algea eater got to big / agressive fast and I exchanged them with two Otto's. Now, I just as of 4 days ago added to 2 BABY Corys and 4 plants (MONDO GRASS). In addition to feeding the corys occasionally they can clean the bottom of the tank. I've read and understand the Corys are not scavengers but they do a great job of siphoning my gravel and even caught them eating off my intake strainer. My water changes have been every two to three days and think this has increased my cycling time a bit but it keeps the fish happy. There has been no increase in my bio load and all the fish are doing well. "See POST HAVE YOU EVER DONE THIS! I guess it just refers back to having patients.
