java fern

I am getting mbuna cichlids and wnted to grow some live plants. Since there will be a lot of mbuna I do not need fertilizer. Oh and the live plant is Jave fern. It has a low light requriments so I dont need a bright light and I wanted to know if there is anything else I need? Wont the plants eat the fish waste? I also wanted to get a bio wheel filter. Is that a good choice? Thanks.

I had java fern with african lake cichlids for years and both did fine. The plants won't eat the fish waste. I suggest regular water changes do remove.

Biowheel on an adequately sized hang on back would be fine.
