KH, GH and PH I am not sure I understand.

Hi. I have a 75G heavily planted tank. I finally got a GH/KH test kit because of my suspicion of really hard water. We have a community well. My test results came out as such:

PH 6.4
KH 8-9
GH ~360PPM

I am doing CO2 injection. Perhaps I should have gotten the test kit first :-)

If I'm reading this correctly, my CO2 is way too high? I've turned it down but I'm honestly not sure what else I should do just yet. I have Cory cats, danios, SAE's and a few red wags and cherry shrimp. Everybody seems healthy and happy (both redwags and shrimp are reproducing). There is some minor algae issues I was hoping to keep in check with the CO2 injection and ferts.

Thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,
dale

Dale,

Most plants will do well in hard co2 injected water so there's nothing to worry about. Only one or two plants are suspected to do better in soft water. Your plants are fine.

However, hardness really plays a role on fish selection. If your water is hard, you should pay attention to what fish you want to put in. Shy away from Discus, Rams, and Chocolate or Licorice Gouramis. These fish have strong soft water demands.
