Are these for a specific type of filter? I'm not quite sure what the purpose of them is.

Here's the description I found: "Bio-Pin Balls help produce turbulence, aiding in the gas-exchange process. The void space between the Bio-Pin Balls is ideal for the movement of gasses like oxygen and allows it to more readily come in contact with nitrifying bacteria living on the media surfaces. 1 gallon treats 20 gallons of saltwater or 35 gallons of freshwater."

they are mainly used for wetdrys since the balls are kinda big but its cheap and its a good media for bacteria to grow on, but you can put them in anything i have some stuffed into a HOB. for smaller filters though you need some of the smaller stuff ceramic rings, that really expensive ehiem stuff etc.

good deal on them though if i didnt live so far i would get the 50 gallons would be great in my pond filter.

how much is shipping to GA: 30044?

I'd like some, wanna trade for plants?

I think 5 gallons would be more than enough.

Would you be interested in trading for plants? I have a lot of sunset hygro that needs to be trimmed, also, I could scare up a bit of corkscrew vals or cyypt lutea. Of some baby compacta swords.

Hoping you are into planted tanks!

would these be more ideal than sponges, or those ceramic rings (which i thought were for prefiltering) for a magnum 350 media basket, its not that big. how efficient are they for the space they take up.

how much would shipping be to 95694

i put ceramic rings into my HOT magnum. they aren't that efficient compared to some of the better stuff but it is cheap. you can get that stuff from ehiem but its like 8 bucks a liter when this is 3 bucks a gallon even though you will only fit about 10 into your basket. i would get cell pore cubes if i were you.

i havent heard of cell pore cubes, right now i actually have 2 or 3 aquaclear 200 sponges packed in there. seems to be working well. do you know if the pore cubes are common? how cheap are they?

thanks

you can get sell pore cubes at the online places, but they used to acutlly make cellpore slabs that fit right into the AC filters i had one for my 500 so it put the sponge on the bottom and then the cell pore on top. it was said to have about 1,200 sq ft of surface area and 100 times the surface area of bio balls.
this stuff should work and dosn't cost too much. about 8 bucks a liter for some matrix made by seachem http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?siteid=6&pCatId=4178
