Hi everyone,

I have a 10 gallon tank due to limited space in my dorm at college. In it I have 5 tiger barbs and they seem to be doing well. My question is whether or not I should add a 6th since I hear they are much happier with a minimum of 6. I suppose I could always get a 20 gallon if they started to get too big down the road.

Specs are:

AquaClear Mini
Ebo-Jager 50 watt set to 75 degrees
5 fake plants
2 air stones and an air ornament

I perform weekly 20% water changes. What do you all think? Should I leave it as is? or get 1 more?

Thanks!

You can get a 20 G tall that has the same footprint as a 10 gallon :)

The tigers are active enough where they will swim the whole depth of the tank.

I think you should stick with the 5 for now.

Actually they are 20 Ex. Tall. It is basically 2 10 gallons stacked on top of one another....they are really prety neat especially if you get fish that will either swim the whole depth of the tank or layer the fish!

Thanks for the replies! I'll just stick with 5. If they start to get too big, then I'll look into a bigger aquarium.

ive only seen 2" tiger barbs once. ive had mine for a year and a half and they are fat little guys but no more than 1.5". actually saw them doing the egg scattering dance a couple times but i dont have the right substrate.

5 tiger barbs is already too much for a 10g. Tiger barbs are very active fish that require more than a 10g to stay happy for long.
