I have 1 smallish silver dollar in my tank along with a sucker loach they don't ever fight (because the loach hides all day and barely comes out at night)I have had a heater at 77f(i normally work in degrees)and it has been mopeing around the heater most the time.i have some plants which it barely goes near i belive that it has burnt it self on the heater.I have put some anti bacterial into the water,at the moment i have bettas breeding in all my other tanks at the moment and i'm setting up a silver dollar tank at the moment but it's not complete.

MY PROBLEM's
1.Do i move it to a tank where it can't scrape it self (if thats what it's doing)
2.what is the best way to heal the burns/cuts?
3.do i make it so the heat is turned up
4.do i make a netting around the heater to stop it going so close

Well, being a tetra, silver dollars are natural schoolers. In saying this, it is best to have them in groups of 4 or more, or else they become quite skiddish. They're are basically mindless fish, and are fairly stupid, so will run into anything.

What size is your tank?

Yea it's big enough to house 4-5 silver dollars (not sure exactly how many gallons)He's going to be put into a silver dollar tank which will be very large so i can have a big school of them(which are on the way).
I have turned the heat up and he is so far staying away from the heater.

Well ok... But if you want to figure the gallon size of the tank now, then measure it for me, and I'll get it for ya.

I would say it's impossible for an aquarium heater to burn a Silver Dollar. I'll bet a genunine US Dollar on that!
The only way for that to happen is if the fish got stuck between the heater and tank glass.

I would look for other causes. Right now, I can't think of anything other than it is sick..

sadly he's got worst, but i've moved him into a tank with no rocks or plants and i've covered it with mesh netting.i agree thinking about it,it wasn't the heater it was just the rocks and plants .
