I have a fish only tank and was looking for a fish or two to add to my tank. I have a Blue Tang and a Algea Benny in a 55g. Thanks for taking time out

You can add pretty much whatever you want to. Assuming you have live rock already, maybe something to add some color to the tank like an angelfish, or a lunar wrasse. With only two fish in a 55, I would add something larger, like a big wrasse, an angel, or a trigger. Just my humble opinion. ;)

It's been about two year since I medicate my tank not knowing the damage that I cause by doing that. Do you think I put live rock in there?

Did you medicate with copper? If so then you are going to have some issues with life on your LR dieing off. Copper leeches into everything. The best thing to do might be to change out the substrate and whatever else is in the tank. Do you have any hermits or snails in the tank currently? If they are living than it is a good indication the there isn't too much copper still present in the tank.

Yes I did use copper safe. Now I think about it how safe was it to use it? also I have 6-8 hermits.
How long do you think it would take for the copper to leave the tank? Is there a way to get the copper out? Thanks for responding

There is nothing to remove copper from the tank. The only real way to do that is to break down the tank and remove anything that may have leeched copper. However, if your hermits are all living, then that is a good sign. Think of them as mineshaft canaries. ;) I don't know if you can keep corals, but if your hermits are all right, and you can keep some snails alive, then your tank ought to be okay.

I was thinking of getting some live rock, about 20 pounds to see how it goes. If the live rock isn't doing well what kind of sign can I look for to see if the rock is in fact dieing?
Or should I get a snail to see if it will do well?

Leaf season is here

You will need to look at the hitchhikers on the live rock to determine if you have copper poisoning. Specifically, look to see if you get any sponges, worms, crabs, feather dusters, anemones, etc. If you see any of these creatures begin to look bad or sick or something like that, then I would start testing for copper. I think that I have heard someone here say that Salifert makes a reliable copper test.

Also, it can't hurt to put in a snail (I'd try Astrea) and see how it fares. Sanils are very sensitive to copper levels, so that ought to be a very good test of whether or not your substrate leeched any copper.
