I inherited breeding grn severums. It seems they have fry every
two weeks! They always get eaten by the other fish.
is it normal for them to have babies so often? They are in a 55 gal tank with several other types of fish including baja sharks
The severums are approx. 5 inches. I would like to put them into a 29 gal tank by themselves so the fry dont get eaten.
Would this tank be too small? Please help!! I know nothing about these fish! thanks

29g tank is too small for the severums. Severums max size is between 7" to 8".

When there are no more babies for them to take care, they will breed again if the water chemistry is correct.

My Green Severums have bred twice in 2 months. The first batch, all the fry were eaten by other fish. On their second batch, they had their fry in the tank with them for 2 weeks. When they believe that their fry could survive on their own...they would start trying to breed again. I prevented them from breeding by turning the temperature down to 75 degree.

Id say 55 gallon would be the bare minimum for these guys full grown. You might be able to get away with a 40long at their current size, but a 29 is way too small for a breeding pair imo.
